People move and have moved to Colorado for specific reasons. Some people came to Colorado to find gold and become rich. Others wanted land so they could build homes and businesses. Others came to make a living trapping furs. Once a decision was made to move to Colorado, people would choose specifically what region or city they wanted to live in. Important factors to consider when settling were: being near water, be close to natural resources like trees, physical terrain, transportation and climate.

The physical environment would and can dictate successes and/or failures for businesses and families. It is important for us to understand how we as humans interact with our physical environment and what kind of impact we are leaving behind. It is also important to understand how our physical environments impacts the decisions we make on where we live, work and play.
